Somewhere Between Rotten and Fresh

The exhibition “Something between Rotton and Fresh” explores the liminal spaces between decay and regrowth through contemporary ceramic art. Featured works evoke impermanence and transformation, reminding us that nothing lasts forever.

Cracks, erosion, and intentional weathering of the artists' porcelain and stoneware pieces convey the vulnerability of clay to the ravages of time. Yet within each fragmented or perforated sculpture, the seed of renewal can be found. The overall brand identity explores the themes of "impermanence and transformation" with two typefaces with great stylistic differences. The images, silhouettes, and contours of the ceramics, on the other hand, silently express creativity, fragility, and renewal.

A Poor Bilingual Superstitious Designer Pray For...

Inspired by the traditional Chinese copper coin pattern——a patterned totem used to seek wealth, I designed the type from this quadripartite continuous pattern. Combining Eastern and Western superstitions I'm trying to create a font with a certain sense of humor, and, can bring me wealth in a foreign land.

The Memeing of Political Discourse

This project aims to explore the tendency and underlying logic of meme use by collective narcissism groups. The designer delves into the terrifying potential of meme-based images and the emotional discourse they convey in the political discourse of the social media age. The designers analyze how collective narcissists communicate their ideas through images and emotions rather than through strict content editing, and explore the significant impact of these meme images on nationalist, racist, and authoritarian discourses. The project was divided into multiple parts, including poster design, essay writing, book design and a final comprehensive presentation. The poster design uses the form of a large newspaper as a medium to express the designer's own first reaction to being permanently exposed to the radical messages of a collective narcissist group. The book, on the other hand, is a more sober presentation of the entire research process, revealing the complex interplay of technology, psychology and politics in the digital age, and encouraging a more nuanced and critical discussion rather than just an emotional appeal.

Index of Bars in NYC

During the first summer in New York, the designer visited more than twenty bars with their own characteristics and integrated them into index with a witty graphic language.

The design is divided into two parts, print and web. The physical version and the digital version have different flavors while maintaining a consistent tone.
